2012 Recreation Tournaments

Mark your calendars for the 2012 Region 13 Recreational Tournament for a fun weekend of competition in Colorado Springs. The tournaments will be held February 10 & 11 on the UC – Colorado Springs campus. We will have tournaments for 9 Ball, Table Tennis, and Poetry Slam.
Competition Rules
Billiards will follow the Billiards Congress of America rules of play for 9-ball competition. The tournament will be a grouping round robin format during the day with a single elimination tournament to determine the champion. This competition does serve as a qualifying tournament for the ACUI Intercollegiate 9-ball Championship. Billiards Information http://www.acui.org/billiards/
The Table Tennis competition will follow National Collegiate Table Tennis Association rules of play. The tournament will be a round robin format during the day with a single elimination playoff bracket to determine the champion. This competition serves as a qualifying tournament for the College Table Tennis National Championships. Table Tennis Information http://www.acui.org/tabletennis/
Poetry Slam will follow the official rules of the ACUI Poetry Slam Invitational. Rules and regulations can be found at http://www.acui.org/content.aspx?menu_id=14&id=11119. This Competition serves as a qualifying tournament for the National Competition.
Tournament Eligibility Requirements
Recognizing that the primary purpose of student life on campus is academic achievement, to further underscore the importance of continuing academic progress students participating in ACUI tournaments must be enrolled as a student in good standing at the institution they represent. To that end, ACUI hereby establishes the following:
All undergraduate and graduate student participants must be enrolled as a student in good standing at the institution the student represents, as determined by the institution in which the participant is currently enrolled. An individual student’s participation is restricted to five years. Such participation shall be limited to three years for those representing two-year institutions. Competition Schedule
Registration will be open beginning at 4pm on February 10th.
An opening dinner will be held on February 10th at 6pm with a captains meeting for each tournament following.
Billiards will begin competition the night of February 10th. All other tournaments will begin on Saturday. Practice time for those competitions will be made available on February 10th.

The closest airport is Colorado Springs Airport (COS).
Participants can also fly into Denver International Airport (DIA). It is approximately a 1 hour drive from there to Colorado Springs.
