The Conference Program Team would like to invite staff and students to submit program proposals for the upcoming conference! The conference theme is “Unity in the Unions,” with a focus on social justice and diversity. When considering your proposal, keep in mind the 11 core competencies identified by ACUI for college unions and the student activities profession. Review of program proposals is immediate and on-going, with the final submission deadline of September 30, 2010. For questions, contact Kim Grubbs at kim.grubbs@colostate.edu / 970-491-5931.
We-Lead!
We regret to announce that we will have to cancel this years WE-LEAD during the 2010 ACUI Region 13 conference. There were not enough students registered to meet the goals of the program. Any schools who registered students for the program will be reimbursed the $20.00 WE-LEAD fee.
Are you a student interested in participating in a exciting and interactive leadership experience? Then consider participating in WE-LEAD while at the Region 13 conference this year. WE-LEAD is an intensive leadership development track of the ACUI Region 13 Conference designed for undergraduate students to gain awareness about themselves, their community, and their peers. Students selected will participate with other students from institutions in the region. WE-LEAD starts at 3:00pm Thursday November 4th and continues throughout all three days of the conference. The sessions build upon each other in order to help develop individual and group leadership skills. For more information about the WE-LEAD program or to apply visit the ACUI 13 webpage at acui13.org. Students must be registered by Friday, October 15 to participate.

The newly revamped Region 13 Auctions are committed to raising money for student scholarships to attend any of the regional, national, or international opportunities offered by ACUI. Our goal is to surpass $1000 this year. We will be accepting item registrations on-line beginning September 7, 2010 this year. Oh, you can still bring an item for the auctions without registering them on-line as we can do that on site! We are however, encouraging you to register it on-line so we can all see some of the items that are being auctioned and can all get excited to participate! We encourage you to consider donating items that are appealing for many, have the potential to be useful to members in any state within our region, and can easily be shipped or travel back home with the lucky member who keeps it! A donation request letter will be available for you to download off of our regional website (acui13.org), feel free to use it to get the best auction items ever… Our students are worth it!!”

Wise argues that we can only begin to move toward authentic social and economic equity by acknowledging the diverse identities that have shaped our perceptions and the role that race continues to play in the maintenance of disparities between whites and people of color in the United States today.
